Big News: Community Foundation Grant Fuels Neighbourhood Celebration Trailer!

The League of YQL Neighbourhoods is thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a Community Priorities Grant of $13,600 from the Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta! This generous funding will directly support the development of our Neighbourhood Celebration Trailer—also known as the Pop-Up Celebration Station.

This project has been in the works for some time, and we’re proud to see it gaining momentum. With this grant, we’ll be able to purchase all the equipment and supplies that will stock the trailer—everything needed to help residents and neighbourhood groups across Lethbridge and surrounding communities host inclusive, fun, and memorable block parties and neighbourhood events.

What Is the Neighbourhood Celebration Trailer?

The Pop-Up Celebration Station is a fully equipped, enclosed trailer that will be available for residents, neighbourhood associations, and community groups to rent at an affordable rate. It’s designed to make hosting a block party or neighbourhood celebration as easy as possible. Whether you’re planning a potluck on your street or a larger neighbourhood-wide gathering, the trailer will have you covered.

Thanks to this grant, we will now be able to include items such as:

  • Folding tables and chairs
  • A large canopy and weights
  • A portable PA system and microphone
  • Outdoor lawn games
  • A propane griddle and cooler
  • Coffee urn, water jugs, and serving supplies
  • Wayfinding signage
  • Extension cords, power bars, and a generator

All of these items are selected to help reduce the barriers to hosting community events—supporting everything from small street gatherings to larger celebrations that build connection and strengthen the social fabric of our city.

Why This Matters

At its heart, the Pop-Up Celebration Station is about bringing people together. After years of isolation and disruption caused by the pandemic, it’s more important than ever to create opportunities for neighbours to meet, connect, and celebrate. The trailer aligns with the League’s mission to foster vibrant, inclusive, and resilient neighbourhoods throughout Lethbridge.

This grant brings us one big step closer to launching the trailer for public use later this summer. We’ll continue to update our community as progress is made, and we can’t wait to see the trailer in action—rolling up to neighbourhoods across the city to spark joy, connection, and community pride.

Thank You

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta for recognizing the importance of this project and investing in a more connected future for our city. This support reflects a shared belief in the power of community, and we’re honoured to be one of this year’s grant recipients.
